Salvador / Sal / Sally

At the beginning of the narrative what readers know about Sal is based on what he says about himself and the way that people describe him. He says that he likes "keeping it calm" (4). He also says that he guesses that he has a "control thing over (himself)" (4). He also says that even though he likes living this way, sometimes he feels as if he is not "doing any living at all" (4).
