Summary

At the beginning of Part Six, Sal sees a storm in the distance. It approaches, but he is not afraid. In the chapter titled "Sam. Fierce. Yup.," it is Christmas break. Sam, Fito, and Sal discuss Enrique and dysfunctional families. Sam shares a conversation she had with a girl who thought it was strange to be living with a family with a gay father. Sam's response was to tell the girl off.

In the chapter titled "Fito. Sam. Me. Texting.," Fito goes to Sal's for breakfast and wants to be included in the word for the day activity. He comes up with an idea for his word, and they share their mothers names. Sal suggests that they play catch even though Vicente is not there.
