Summary

In the chapter titled "Sam," Sam goes over to Sal’s for breakfast as she is always hungry and Sylvia does not keep food in the house. The amount of food in the refrigerator impresses Sam. While she is there, she and Sal talk about how clean Sal’s house is compared to hers, that she wished she had a Mima, their different opinions about Fito and the bad boys that she dates. During the conversation she calls Sal “white boy” a term that he does not like. He does like, though that she considers him to be her best friend. He wants to tell her about all of the things that he is feeling, but he does not know how she would feel if she knew and he does not know what he would do...
