Summary

Chapter 7 is told from Will’s perspective. Will drove Phoebe to John Leal’s house where they joined John Leal and his friends for dinner. Will thought it was strange that they had hired a waitress for such a small dinner party and he noticed that the woman serving them seemed nervous and jumpy.

Will remembered his first day at Edwards when his roommates had expressed surprise that he had taken the bus from California rather than flying. After that moment, Will resolved not to reveal his financial circumstances to anyone. He created an entire fictional backstory for himself about being from a wealthy family in California.
