Summary
In Chapter 21, the next day, Billy wakes up angry and confused after being rebuffed by Mary the night before. In a fit of rage, he writes the words “fat bitch” (158) over and over on a piece of paper. Alf and Clark arrive at Billy’s house. Alf’s face is bruised, as he was beaten by a few of the people whose money he had accepted as advance payments for the photocopies. Billy and Alf apologize to one another. Alf and Clark have decided to steal tapes from music stores and sell them in order to make back the lost money so they can pay back the customers. Billy comes with them to help them shoplift, but they are seen and must run away without the tapes. Billy then reveals to Alf and Clark that he saw Mary input the alarm code the previous...
