Chapters 53-59 Summary

Rolvaag, 1:45 a.m. Britton argues with herself over her decision to bow to Glinn's will, hoping he does whatever necessary to get them out of this mess. Howell, the chief mate, promises to stand by Britton no matter what she does.

Rolvaag, 2:50 a.m. Lloyd is angry and humiliated about the way Glinn treated him even as he understands that Glinn is doing what is necessary to make sure Lloyd gets his meteorite.

Rolvaag, 3:40 a.m. The meteorite is nearly inside the cargo hold. However, the wind has increased and is knocking the ship up against the bluffs. Not only this, but the fog is lifting, leaving them visible to Vallenar. Finally the meteorite is in the hold and Britton is given the green light to leave.

Almirante Ramirez, 3:55 a.m. Vallenar becomes suspicious when the Rolvaag turns off her lights...
