Chapters 36-43 Summary
Rolvaag, 12:25 p.m. Glinn goes to the bridge and reassures Britton that Vallenar has no intention of shooting at them while they are stationary in the bay. Glinn then goes outside to speak with Puppup, to whom he tells a lie in an attempt to win his trust. It turns out Puppup has lied to Glinn as well. Puppup does give Glinn the information that Vallenar once killed his wife and her lover in cold blood, waiting until they were in bed together so he would not be charged with the crime by Chilean law.
Rolvaag, 11:20 p.m. McFarlane goes to Amira's cabin and finds a written report to Glinn about McFarlane. When Amira returns and finds him reading the first page, she forces him to read the entire report, which states that she agrees with McFarlane's conclusions and refuses to...
