Point of View
The novel is written from the third person point of view. This third person narrator is limited to the main character Nora Spangler's perspective. This means that throughout the novel, the narrator remains closest to Nora's consciousness and describes the narrative world through her lens. In this way, the point of view enacts Nora's experience. If the author were to have written the novel from Nora's first person perspective, Nora's character would appear bolder and more assured of who she is, what she wants, and where she is going. By contrast, the third person limited point of view enacts Nora's separation from herself, and her struggles to balance who she wants to be with who her world demands her to be.
