Summary

In Chapter Fifty-two, Cecilia feels the need to be as polite to Dr. Yue as possible. John-Paul seems gruff with the doctor which makes Cecilia afraid he won’t work as hard for Polly. Polly has a serious concussion; her spleen has already been removed. The doctor tells them that he must amputate her right arm.

Rachel waits in the hallway outside the intensive care unit. She wonders what she should say to Cecilia and John Paul. She has been told she probably won’t be charged. Rob was called to pick her up. Lauren and Rob make Rachel nervous with their hovering. The priest tries to convince Rachel that Polly’s injuries are the result of an accident. He makes her feel better only by keeping her updated on Polly’s progress.
