Part Three, Until Death Do Us Part: Chapters 46-49 Summary
When Mitch wakes and goes downstairs to check on Anson. Anson still refuses to tell Mitch where he keeps his money, so Mitch refuses to allow him to go to the bathroom. Mitch searches Anson's condo. Mitch finds a loose nail in the attic and works at it, convinced it is significant, but finds nothing underneath. Mitch searches every room but gives up when time begins to run out. Mitch returns to the laundry room and again demands to know where the money is. Mitch tells Anson if he does not tell him he will kill him. Anson tells Mitch about a safe in his kitchen. Mitch finds the safe and withdraws six hundred thousand dollars in bearer bonds and eight hundred thousand in cash.
