Part One, What Would You Do for Love?, Chapters 7-10 Summary
Mitch answers the phone and Holly's voice fills his ear. Holly begs Mitch to be calm and to promise her if something goes wrong he will go on with his life. Mitch reluctantly agrees. The kidnappers come on the line and inform Mitch that they have not harmed his wife. The blood, they explain, was taken with a needle from Holly's arm and the scene in the kitchen staged. The kidnappers have also put blood on a knife and some of Mitch's clothes and hidden them somewhere on the property. The kidnappers have done this so that if Mitch does not cooperate, it will appear that Mitch is responsible for Holly's death. Again, Mitch finds himself forced to follow orders.
