Summary
Ian awakes from a nightmare involving a parachute, and he wonders why this is the most common night terror he suffers from, rather than the other horrors of war he has seen. Before they leave for good, Nina convinces Ian and Tony to go on the Ferris wheel at a local amusements park. Ian does not want to go at all, as the others learn that he has a crippling fear of heights. Nina, of course, is entirely comfortable at that height, and even finds the slow speed of the ride to be boring. When he becomes especially scared, Ian divulges that he was traumatized by a parachute jump gone wrong in 1945 during the war.
