Words: Kanai is reading in Nirmal’s study when Moyna appears in the doorway and tells him that she is happy he is going on the expedition as she is anxious about Piya and Fokir being alone together. Kanai is surprised and asks Moyna, “if [Piya] had to choose between me and Fokir, whom do you think it would be?” (258).
