Summary
Moyna: Nilima tells Kanai that Moyna will take him on a tour of the hospital, and admits that she had not realized for many years that Moyna was married to Kusum’s son, but was happy to know he had survived the massacre that killed his mother. However, she does not think they are well suited as Moyna is bright and ambitious while Fokir can, “neither read nor write” (129). As Kanai walks around the hospital with Moyna he is impressed at what his aunt has achieved, and also by the cyclone shelter Nirmal insisted upon. Moyna tells Kanai that she does not want Tutul to be a fisherman, but wants him to receive an education.
