Summary
The Fall: Piya is puzzled at the lack of dolphin sightings. Seeing a fishing boat she asks Mej-da if they can approach it so she can show the fisherman her flashcard. She is surprised when he does but then horrified when the guard points his gun at the fisherman and a little boy who is also on the boat. The guard tells Piya to show the man her flashcard and she is “suddenly very excited” (47) when the fisherman looks at it and points to the picture of the Orcaella dolphin and holds up six fingers. The guard boards the fishing boat and takes money from the little boy. When Piya attempts to replace the money with her own the guard tries to stop her and she is knocked into the river.
