Summary
Wurche is now running a chicken business to save money. She has been watching Moro and Aminah’s interactions jealously. She hoped to rekindle her affair with Moro. Meanwhile, she spends time with Helmut, hoping she can gain intelligence on the Europeans political strategy. One day, she accuses him of trying to conquer her people under the guise of friendship, which he denies. She later learns that the Asante king, has been captured and exiled by the British. The more time they spend together, the more Wurche sees that Helmut earnestly believes in his efforts towards stopping slavery, building schools, railroads, bridges, etc. Soon, they develop a friendship and start an affair that is different from her time with Adnan, which was painful, and Moro, which was passionate. With Helmut, she finds tenderness.
