Sebastian

Sebastian, a sheltered boy who lives in a Geodesic Dome, is the protagonist of the novel. After the deaths of his parents due to a plane crash, he moved in with his grandmother, whom he calls Nana. Nana raises him in such as a way as to set him up as Bucky's successor. However, after meeting Jared's family and experiencing the outside world, he rejects this idea. Throughout the novel, Sebastian begins as an awkward child to a punk-loving, emotional teenager who learns that Buck's imagined future is not all the world has to offer.

Nana is Sebastian's biological grandmother. Nana attempts to raise her grandson to be Bucky's successor, but after a stroke, she loses control of Sebastian.
