Section 14: Chapters 34 & 35 Summary

In Chapter 34: The Shrimp Harvester, Matt tries to get a response from Chacho in vain as the new day dawns, and he sees a patch of Chacho's uniform near the edge of the pit. Matt is amazed to see Ton-Ton and Fidelito approach on Ton-Ton's shrimp harvester. Ton-Ton uses the harvester to retrieve Chacho, and he gives Chacho soda because he is dehydrated. They need to leave to go to San Luis. While Ton-Ton tears a hole in the fence with his machine, Fidelito informs Matt that they gave the Keepers opium and blocked the exits from their compound, locking the Keepers inside while they slept. They drive until night falls when the shrimp harvester shuts down since it runs on solar energy.
