Section 2: Chapters 4 & 5 Summary

In Chapter 4: Maria, as Matt lies on the grass wishing Celia would rescue him, the children approach, and Steven claims that Matt is a clone but is different from other clones since the technicians did not destroy Matt's mind because El Patron wanted his clone to grow up like a real boy. The fierce man and the doctor appear and take Matt to the servants' quarters for the doctor to operate, and Rosa holds Matt down while the doctor removes the glass from Matt's feet with tweezers. Matt hopes Celia will come soon, but Rosa tells him that the doctor has forbidden Celia to see him.
