Summary
In Chapter 18, Patricia has been in a prison called San Victoire since her arrest and appears in court for the first time during her trial. Her lawyers had advised her to appear earlier so that she would understand how the court worked and be comfortable in the courtroom, but she had refused to do so. Her stay in jail has not been easy. She has problems with the other inmates. She does not talk to her cellmates. She asks for privileges and is granted some of them. Her mother tries to make Patrizia feel at home. However, the special treatment Patrizia receives aggravates the situation. She allowed her daughters to come to see her only on special holidays. She gets her hair done by a celebrity hairdresser.
