Summary
In Chapter 12, less than a year after Maurizio forced Aldo to sell his Gucci shares, Aldo, who has prostate cancer, dies. A few years earlier, Aldo filed for divorce from his wife Olwen. Even though they are only married in name, Aldo would spend time with her when he was in Rome. She fights him, for the first time in her life. Her opposition does not prevent him from marrying his mistress in the United States. He has a daughter with her. Prior to his death, he had been spending time with his second family in Rome, fallen ill with the flu, and died. Maurizio attends the funeral, but stands by himself. His cousins are cold towards him.
