Summary

In Chapter 8, Maurizio initiates a new era of war within the family. Rodolfo has died. Prior to his death he asked his advisors, including De Sole, to watch after Maurizio. He warned Patrizia that Maurizio would change when he received his inheritance. Many of the people around Rodolfo and Maurizio felt as if Maurizio was not ready for his new role. They thought that Rodolfo should have given him more responsibility while he was still alive. Rodolfo's death enables Maurizio to make and implement his own decisions for the first time in his life other than when he had married Patrizia.
