Summary

In Chapter 1, an unknown assailant kills Maurizio Gucci as he enters his office building. Guiseppe Onorato, a fifty-one year old retired soldier who relocated to Milan from the south of Italy and is now a doorman at the Via Palestro, witnesses the shooting. He is wounded by the gunman. Onorato tells the police that the killer was a man.

In Chapter 2, the authorities arrive and begin their investigation. The bullet wound indicates that a professional hit man killed Maurizio.
