Chapters 13-15 Summary

In chapter 13, Thomas follows as his father marches up the hill. Thomas and his father come across a clearing where they see Mr. Pluto smoking a cigarette and pacing. When Mr. Small calls out to Mr. Pluto, Mr. Pluto disappears into a cave. Mr. Small and Thomas follow, finding inside a bed and a blacksmith's bellows, but no Mr. Pluto. Mr. Small paces the room, searching the walls, until finally he sees a rope dangling from one wall. Mr. Small pulls it and discovers it opens another secret wall.

In chapter 14, Mr. Small and Thomas go into the tunnel hidden in Mr. Pluto's cave only to find Mr. Pluto in a room surrounded by many treasures, including expensive rugs and glass bottles. Pesty is there too, dusting the glass bottles. Mr. Pluto tells the Smalls how he accidentally found this room...
