Summary

The third part, Celebration Day, begins with a chapter entitled “The Morning of the Party.” Little Angel resents the way the family treats him as though he is not Mexican. La Gloriosa is up early and begins to get ready. She showers and, feeling her C-Section scar, begins to weep for Guillermo, the son she lost in a neighborhood shooting nearly ten years ago. Marylú returns to the house with coffee and scones. She complains about Paz, who she says hates her ex-husband, Leo. Minnie wakes up next to El Tigre, her boyfriend. She initiates sex; she then showers and leaves for Big Angel’s house.

Meanwhile, César, one of Big Angel’s brothers, goes to pick up his son, Marco. Marco is interested in satanic punk metal music; the narrative nicknames him “Marco the Satanic...
