Summary
In Chapter 14, Tom was shocked when Annie told him she had driven Pilgrim to his ranch. Meanwhile, Grace, who was back at the house they had rented, was not completely unhappy about the trip. She was glad to get away from school. However, Grace did not want to think about Pilgrim. The trip made her consider the way she felt about him, and she forced herself to think about something else.
In Chapter 15, Tom thought Pilgrim looked even worse than he did in Chatham. When he arrived at the rental house to talk to Grace and Annie, Tom was surprised by the anger on Grace’s face when she opened the door. Annie was on the phone.
