Point of View

The novel is written in third person from the limited perspective of Glory, a RainWing dragonet who lives in Pyrrhia. Glory is part of a group of five dragonets known as the prophecy dragons or – with increasing frequency – the dragonets of destiny. The five spent the first six years of their lives entirely isolated from other dragons except three guardians. The three were derisive of Glory because she is a RainWing and they consider the entire tribe to be lazy and useless, though no one seems to know very much about them. Glory has schooled herself to seem indifferent to the constant berating but it has had an effect on her perspective, as have the years of isolation, her close association with the four dragonets (all from different tribes), and the lack of experience in the real world.
