Summary

In Chapter 21, Ross arrives early at the police station and is dismayed that Matthew is already there, setting up chairs and making coffee for their morning meeting. Ross struggles to stay alert while Matthew begins the meeting, recapping everything they know. Matthew believes Nigel might have found that hospital officials were negligent in Alexander's suicide. Alexander's sister Janey is Wesley's friend, which is one of several links between the victims. Jen reveals the scandal in Roger's past. Ross is upset to be assigned the phone records, which he sees as a waste of time. Matthew believes the Mackenzie family is “at the heart of the case” (159). Matthew and Ross go to the hospital. Ross feels intimidated because of the authority doctors have. They meet with Roger, a woman named Fiona Radley who is head of communications, and Ratna Joshi who was Alexander's psychiatrist...
