Summary
Chapter Six begins on December 20th, 1955 as Radha and Lakshmi paint henna for the rich children of Jaipur. Radha struggles to control herself as Sheela mocks the other girls. Lakshmi tells the reader that Radha had learned a lot over the last two months and feels that everything will work out once Ravi and Sheela marry.
The girls join their parents as Lakshmi and Radha head toward the kitchen. Lakshmi points out Manu and the various other characters including Parvati and Samir. Samir tells her she has a meeting with the queen and tells them to go to the roof to see the performance. Samir also says Gupta agreed to hire Naraya who has extended Lakshmi’s debt.
