Conflicts with National Policies
Conflicts arise in the political arena when loyalty to the policies of a country is perceived as being detrimental to people and the environment. When Charlie Marder unexpectedly leaves academia to become a congressman, he struggles with the complicated issue of continuing to allow General Kinetics to produce dangerous chemicals to combat the possibility of Communism or to protect the country's people and other forms of life from the substances.
Charlie believes he is a good man and expects to continue being so once he is in office. He soon learns that there are many factors at play. Immediately after taking office, Charlie refuses to approve funding for a company that manufactured faulty gas masks during World War II. As Charlie works through clues and finds research conducted by other congressmen, he learns that a company named General Kinetics is manufacturing dangerous chemicals...
