Some in society only value a woman for her looks and her potential as a sexual partner. The narrative uses the characters of Jack and Burke to show that even though Eadlyn is an intelligent and hardworking professional, she will always find herself faced with men who only judge her only by her looks and think of her only as a sexual conquest.
