Summary

Virgilio prepares to fly to Le Havre to take part in Simon's transplant operation. Dr. Harfang's eldest daughter Alice introduces herself to Virgilio, and informs him that she is an intern and will be observing the procedure. He dislikes her at first, taking her for an arrogant rich girl, but his attitude quickly softens. He asks if it is her first organ removal operation, and she says it is. In Le Havre, Thomas is there to meet them. Between all of the doctors and nurses, there will be 13 people in the operating room. The doctors work in pairs to remove the organs they have come for, Virgilio going second, after the liver surgeon and before the kidney surgeons. Just as Virgilio is about to extract the heart, Thomas stops him. He speaks to Simon, telling him that his family is there with him...
