Summary
In Chapter Three, Hamed and Onsi went to the busy street, Sha’ib El Banat, to find Sheikha Nadiyaa to ask her to perform the Zār ritual. Along the way, they discussed the masculine outfit the waitress was wearing and the golden cow earrings she was wearing. Hamed explained that they were an emblem of the goddess Hathor, which marked her as an idolater. Ever since the djinn and magic had come to the world, underground cults seeking after Egypt’s eldest gods had started cropping up. They were not illegal, but the new religious tolerance laws did not offer the adherents much protection.
The agents arrived at the address the waitress had given them. As they walked inside, they saw dozens of women working. The walls had artwork for the Egyptian Feminist Sisterhood. They realized they were in the Sisterhood’s headquarters...
