Summary

At school, Starr is worried about Khalil's upcoming funeral. She has forgiven Chris, but she is still anxious about the physical reaction she had when he grabbed her hand. Hailey makes a comment about Starr liking fried chicken, which Starr takes as a racist remark. Hailey insists it was not. Hailey heard about Khalil's shooting and asks Starr if she knew him. Starr says no, and then feels guilty. Starr feigns illness and calls Uncle Carlos to pick her up. He takes her out for frozen yogurt and they talk about Khalil and the police officer that shot him, who Carlos knows from work. She tells Carlos that the officer also pointed his gun at her, and he is visibly shaken.
