Chapter 3 Summary and Analysis
In Chapter 3: Kingdom's Eve and the Nine Harbingers, the prophet asks why Nouriel returned, and Nouriel responds that the prophet is the only one who can give him an answer to his problem of the prophet. The prophet asks if Nouriel is ready for the answer, and when Nouriel says he hopes so, the prophet says it is time to begin, so Nouriel turns his recording device on. Speaking as if recalling a distant memory, the prophet explains that Israel, the ancient kingdom, had no idea what was coming and thought things would never change, but they should have known; it was there from the beginning, but they forgot their purposes.
