Chapter 14, The Business of Pleasure Summary and Analysis
Chapter Fourteen deals with the monetary concerns of operating a brothel. Xaviera gives specific values for every aspect of the business, from what she typically charges different johns based on their incomes and requirements to the typical income a madam can take in per week. She says that she can generally trust her employees to be honest about how much they charge, partly because the johns will later volunteer that information. Xaviera receives rent from the girls who live in her brothel, which helps her pay her expenses.
