Summary

Chapter 10 takes place in November of 2014, two months after the previous chapter. Sera is 14 (soon to be 15). Sera and Lucy meet early each day of training at Elite Gymnastics. They apply healing patches and tape to provide relief to inflamed muscles and support in crucial places. Lucy says Eddie believes he will need to see her more often soon because of spine alignment problems. Sera can tell there is something wrong but does not know what. Sera tries to ease the mood by kidding around. She says she used a cheese grater on her palms the previous night because her callous scraper was in the car. She finally earns a smile by bending over and asking Lucy to apply “butt glue” to help keep her leotard in place. Lucy agrees to “gum up your slippery bum” (109).
