Summary
Chapter 13 returns to Ragnvald's first-person narration as he walks along with King Hakon's procession of people to the fjord where his ships are harbored. Ragnvald is pained by his injury still and while he listens to others talk about fighting with Harald, he wonders how a boy no older than Svanhild could make a better king than Hakon. Oddi then breaks into Ragnvald's thoughts by asking him how he has fared during the march. Oddi also tells Ragnvald that his brother Heming is asking Hakon for a fleet to go after Solvi. Oddi calls Heming spoiled right as Heming rides up to them. Heming offers to let Ragnvald ride one of his horses and Ragnvald agrees reluctantly when he sees that Oddi has left his side.
