Summary

In Chapter 24, a terrible rainstorm hits Palm Springs. Patrick orders a cake just as Grant sees a rainbow. Patrick convinces Grant to help him get Maisie out of her room, where Patrick explains it is Sara’s birthday. He tells them to make wishes for Sara. Maisie says she does not want Sara to be alone. Grant wishes for Sara's laughter, and Patrick hopes she is free from her suffering. Then Patrick wishes for Grant's humor to remain, even when life is challenging. He then wishes that Maisie take what her mother gave her and make them distinctively hers. Last, he explains that he and Sara always danced on birthdays. The three do so, and Patrick feels all their sadness dissipate.
