Summary
This section brings "The Anchoress" to a close. Elsa requested Kitty take Willy to save him from the war, but Kitty refuses as she claims that there is no war, and they would not know what to do with him as he should probably be with his own people, meaning other Jews. Elsa is shocked at her response and leaves the Island. Kitty is reminded of Elsa and Willy each summer when the open up the Big House and come to spend time on Crockett's Island. The Miltons spend summers there, hosting parties, and the children grow up in this enchanted setting. The next section of the work, "A Capella" begins. "A Capella" describes the next generation of Miltons as young adults. Joan Milton has landed a position with the controversial Barney Rossett as he hopes to break censorship barriers in the world...
