Summary
In Chapter 27, Frankie, Vicki, and Post all attend the hearing for Quincy’s post-conviction relief. Carmen Hidalgo is representing the Attorney General’s office. Post is working with co-counsel Susan Ashley Gross from the Central Florida Innocence Program. When the hearing begins, Post is surprised to see four other spectators in the courtroom. At the lunch break, two of the spectators are watched by private investigators as they leave the courthouse in different cars but meet up for lunch. One of the cars, a Mercedes, is registered to Nash Cooley of Miami. Cooley is a partner in a firm that frequently represents drug dealers. A private security firm identifies the second man as Mickey Mercado using facial recognition. Mercado has a drug trafficking conviction. A murder trial against him ended in a hung jury.
