The Bookstore
Jefe’s bookstore is the main setting in which the story begins. It is a rather old-fashioned store, which reflects the tastes of its owner. Large shelves full of books line the walls and dusty glass display cases are set up all around the shop. It is a highly functional but not especially fashionable space. It is described several times as being ghost-like, contributing to its status as a relic from a bygone era. The rarely utilized upstairs loft essentially becomes Liborio’s bedroom when he starts working there, as he has nowhere else to stay. While he is living there, the shop becomes something of a school for him as well, giving him unlimited access to an entire library of books of all genres.
