Summary

Chapter 2 opens in Wells Park, where Liborio has gone to spend his first night away from the bookstore. There is a long flashback to his first day off of work at the bookstore when Jefe tells him to go to Wells Park and get some exercise. Liborio follows his suggestion, and while he is sitting in the park he sees The Chickadee for the first time walking a German shepherd. He returns the following Sunday to see if she will be there again, but does not find her. It is not until months later that he sees her again through the window of the bookstore as she is waiting at the bus stop across the store.
