Summary
The Gah Men are surprised to find they are running out of sand for their reclamation. Uncle opens the windows when the thunking noise of the machines stop, and he knows he is being stubborn as he sits around the empty house that used to be so full. His family no longer visits him as often as they used to. Ma is proud of Ah Boon’s house, but Uncle reminded her that she has not been asked to live there even though it is so large. Uncle visits the fill site at night and grieves over what has been lost.
