Chapter 4, The Hounds of God Summary

Bod learns about the unconsecrated ground in the far corner of the cemetery. It is a potter's field where the poor, criminals, and a witch are buried. There is an apple tree near the potter's field where Bod likes to hang out. One day Bod falls from the tree and a woman comes to his rescue. She introduces herself as Liza Hempstock. Liza was suspected to be a witch and killed by the town's people. Liza admits she is a witch and that she cursed the people who killed her. Each of them died within a short time of her death of the plague. Liza tells Bod that she does not mind being dead, but wishes she had a tombstone with her name on it.
