Summary
In Chapter 37, Tierney sees seeds spilling from her cloak and realizes June sewed them in. Ecstatic, she plants them around the spring. As she does so, a thunderstorm breaks out.
In Chapter 38, Tierney tries to protect the seeds from the storm. Unfortunately, lightning strikes nearby and part of the ridge breaks away. Tierney watches her seeds float down the river below. Suddenly, she hears Gertrude scream.
In Chapter 39, Tierney breaks back into the camp. She sees a girl convulsing on the ground from a lightning strike, when Kiersten throws the girl’s body over the fence for the poachers. Kiersten notices Tierney and chases after her with an axe. Losing her balance, Kiersten accidentally plunges the axe into Tierney’s shoulder, and blood gushes everywhere.
