Summary
The next section is titled “Journal of Rose Ingrid Castle.” Rose writes that everyone accepted that Billy's death was an accident, including Daniel and the coroner. She now wonders if she should have allowed Fern to face the consequences because “now that there is a baby involved, I'm terrified that (the baby) will pay the price for my mistake” (257).
