Chapter 17 Summary
Guilt-ridden, Frank checks on Tehogo frequently. He suggests to Dr. Ngema that Tehogo should be moved to the big hospital. She says his condition is too bad to consider moving him that right now.
Colonel Moller sends a soldier to handcuff and guard Tehogo. Dr. Ngema protests, but the soldier does not listen to her.
Frank assumes complete care of Tehogo, from turning him in the bed to emptying his catheter, all the duties Tehogo himself would normally be doing. Tehogo's condition improves and, in order to keep him from pulling all his tubes out, Frank ties him to the bed with soft cloths. Laurence is the only one who does not come by to check on Tehogo.
