Summary

In the section Day 3, Daphne and Honey venture to Sal's Cafe to call Engin. At Sal's, with Engin on Skype, Daphne feels ugly and old. They speak in Turkish. Engin cannot understand why she is in Altavista, and Daphne is unable to truthfully explain. She lies and says work was slow. She suddenly bursts into tears. Though she is crying because he is stuck in Turkey, angry at the government, feels alone and trapped, she just says she is sad.

The reason Engin initially returned to Turkey was in pursuit of his dream video artist career. On a visit back to the US, two agents tricked him into giving up his green card and signing away his right to return to the states. Daphne regrets encouraging him to go back at all.
