Book 8, Chapter 30 Summary
The government finally decides to send only one of Nick's men to into Cuba. Geraci picks Carmine. In Cuba, Carmine waits for the motorcade. He lines his sights up on the bearded dictator and fires a perfect shot. Carmine Marino, soon to be arrested in Cuba, has killed el Presidente's favorite look-alike. Lucadello shows up at Nick's house late at night to warn him that everything has blown up in their faces. He tells Nick the government needs to kill Carmine to cover their tracks, and Nick is in danger. Not only has Michael been planning to kill Nick as soon as this job was over, but apparently the Commission had approved the Russo Family's assassination plans, but not Nick's.
